Chesapeake Union Exempted Village School District
Restart Notification
Dear Chesapeake Families,
We hope this letter finds you well! As we move closer to re-opening our facilities, we have been working hard to follow established policies and guidelines set forth by the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Education in order to maintain a healthy and safe environment for our staff, students, and families. In cooperation with the Lawrence County ESC and Lawrence County Health Department, a county plan was developed and the Chesapeake School System used this plan as a reference for our restart decisions. The following information may need to be adjusted or changed based on new information or requirements set by the Federal Government, the State of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Education, or the Health Department. Our goal is to resume in-person school to the best of our ability, provide options for families, provide a high quality education, and most importantly, keep our students and staff safe. Thank you for your continued support of Chesapeake Schools.
Please note that the first day of school for students has changed. The first day of school for students will now be Monday, August 31, 2020. (NOTE CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS DATE OF AUGUST 24)
Chesapeake Schools are offering two educational delivery options to our families and students.
Schools resume full regular Face-to-Face instruction. The district will begin the academic year with traditional, in-person classes, but will have plans in place to transition swiftly to an alternate plan if an outbreak causes an immediate school closure. Buses run the normal routes as scheduled.
Option 1- Students attend school 5 days a week.
Students participate in remote learning. Families may choose a remote education model on a quarterly basis. (Families choosing a remote model commit to 9 week periods of instruction.)
Option 2- Students receive remote learning, participating from their home.
