Summer EBT/SUN Bucks Information 
The Summer EBT program, also known as SUN Bucks, is a permanent program created under the Consolidated Appropriations Act signed in December 2022. This program provides $120 of summer meal benefits to students that receive free or reduced meals during the school year.
This year, school year 24/25, Chesapeake Union Exempted Village School district qualified for CEP (Community Eligibility Provision). CEP is a program that allows schools in Ohio that meet certain economic standards, to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students, eliminating the need for household applications for free or reduced-price meals.
Before becoming CEP, student eligibility was determined by two methods: 1. Through direct certification provided from federal programs like SNAP & Medicaid. 2. By completing an individual household income form that was provided by the schools at the beginning of every school year. This year the individual household income forms were not collected, nor were they a requirement for CEP eligibility.
- Students that are direct certified by SNAP, ODJFS, Medicaid, or other qualifying agencies will automatically be submitted for Summer EBT / SUN Bucks. The families of these students are not required to submit anything further.
- Students that in previous years would have been eligible for reduced-price meals, but do not receive assistance through programs like SNAP, Medicaid, etc., will be required to complete a Summer EBT Application online. The application can be found here: Click Here
Important: Do not fill out an application if your student has been (as of July 1, 2024) or is currently on SNAP, OWF, Medicaid and the household income would qualify the student for free or reduced-price meals, the student is already approved for free or reduced price meals in the 2024-2025 school year, or the student is home-schooled or is a fully virtual student.
Application period for Summer of 2025 is March 3, 2025 through August 15, 2025.
